Falketind

Join us on a mountain/fjelltur trip to southern Jotunheimen! We're planning on climbing Falketind (2067m) near Tyinholmen via Normalveien (the "normal" route), weather and condition depending. This is a high-threshold and difficult trip! You need to have good fitness, experience with ice axe and crampons and be comfortable traversing challenging terrain (e.g. scrambling). Ice axe and crampons may not be needed depending on conditions, but we'll carry them.

The plan is leave on Thursday afternoon from Blindern and drive up to Tyin, where we'll find a place to camp. We'll assess weather and conditions during the week to decide exactly what we do.

Plan A:

Our main goal of the trip is to summit Falketind. We will do this either Friday or Saturday depending on the weather and conditions.

Other than Falketind, we will try to summit another peak, or do a round-trip in the area around Eidsbugarden/Fondsbu. 

Plan B:

Depending on weather and conditions, summiting a peak might prove difficult. In that case we will find some other mountains to hie to or go for a longer round-trip instead, camping along the trail.

Everyone needs to bring their own food for the duration of the trip. You will also need to bring your own camping and hiking equipment (including a helmet, crampons). OSI friluft has a few iceaxes that can be borrowed, let us know if you need one!. 

If you do not own a tent, sleeping bag, mattress, or backpack you can rent these for free at BUA (there are several in Oslo). Another option is to borrow a tent from OSI Friluft (we have several). If you would like to do that, please contact us! We can also share tents/cooking equipment etc. between the participants.

Registration opens Aug 27th 16:00. There are 5 places (+2 leaders). Registration does not guarantee a spot on the trip, only tells us that you are interested. Places on the trip will be allocated first come, first served, but only once we can verify you have the experience needed to join the trip. So please be as descriptive as possible when you register!

Participants who get a place will be notified by email from one of the organizers (Luke or Eirik) with more info, and payment details.
